West Midlands Employer Domestic Abuse Networking event – 12th November, 10am till 3pm

£0.00

FREE FOR EMPLOYERS BASED IN THE WEST MIDLANDS – 12th November, 10am till 3pm, The Colmore Building, Birmingham city centre.

This is an event for any employer or employee that wants to know more about domestic abuse.  We know that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men are subjected to domestic abuse in their lifetime.  Children are victims of domestic abuse, so you have employees who have been, are currently or will continue to be victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

As an employer you can provide support in various ways – this event will hear from organisations who could help you through policies, practices, resources, training, lived experiences, wellbeing and more.  Share what you have done so far with other, learn about new initiatives and training, gather resources and links to take back into your organisations to make them more supportive and safer.

The event is through collaboration of Voices, She Beasts and EIDA (The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse) with support from Irwin Mitchell for the venue at The Colmore Building.

Format of the day:

  • Introduction by EIDA (The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse) – introduction to the 4 phases of support.
  • She Beasts – From Surviving to Leading: Rebuilding Confidence Through Movement
Sadie Jones will explore why workplace support must go beyond policy, disclosure and referral—and how movement, progressive challenge and lived experience can help people rebuild confidence, recognise their capability and move towards leadership, progression and employment.
  • Guest speaker – Richard Port, Family Lawyer (MBE) at MFG Solicitors – Straight-talking on domestic abuse, divorce & child arrangements.
  • Networking/lunch
  • What is inclusive domestic abuse training – a discussion of the work of Voices and Domestic Abuse Education – support for all in the workplace.
  • Guest speaker – Marcia Lewinson CEO of  Waits (Women Acting In Today’s Society) – With over 33 years of experience designing and delivering services that empower women, Marcia brings a wealth of expertise in supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
