How lovely to see you visiting Voices Social Enterprise website. This is our first blog, but not the last!
I thought in this one I’d talk a little bit about why I set up Voices and what I hope it will grow to be.
I believe in collaboration and supporting all victims/survivors and warriors….and thrivers, which is something I heard in training recently and really liked. Why supporting all? Because I don’t want to see people being abused or being abusers. And I know to support people we need to collaborate, understand, hear, reflect and develop.
It may be a big ambition and ask, but I believe in collaboration, support for all and listening – so I have set up Voices to live it each day and be challenged by you all in a positive way.
You will see we already have some fantastic organisations and individuals we are working with. I make sure that each of us are getting something out of the working relationship – joint support, paid so we can pay our bills and other people we work with, raising profiles, raising awareness, changing legislation, challenging perceptions……but change through collaboration all along the way.
I will always endeavour to work in a trauma informed way with other trauma informed people. But we are human and we may get some things wrong. Let us know in a respectful, trauma informed way and we can reflect and work together to understand more.
So here we all are – and I can honestly say I am scared whether this will work, so passionate to make it work, really looking forward to working with other organisations and people, proud that I am giving it a go with values and morals. Most of all, I am really looking forward to continuing to meet more warriors as I get inspired every day by them…..it’s why I set up Voices Social Enterprise.
